The girls basketball team lost to the Georgetown Visitation Cubs, 42–45, dropping to 1–2 on the season.
The Vikes fell behind 18–4 early in the game, finding it difficult to generate any offense.
The team then went on a 14–0 run to tie it at 18, then fell to 24–20 headed into the break.
Guard Jenna Hosker had a strong second half, hitting multiple three-pointers to finish with 12 points for the game.
The third-ranked team in the state, according to The Washington Post, Georgetown Visitation held a slim one-point lead with less than a minute to go but extended the deficit to three with around ten seconds to go.
The Vikes attempted one final three-pointer at the very end to try and send the game to overtime, but it was too late and too wide.
“We need to focus better at the very beginning and the very end of the game,” guard Marie Hatch said.
Hatch scored five points, and guard Abby Meyers and forward Betsy Knox added 12 and 11 points respectively.
The Lady Vikes play the Magruder Colonels next up in an away game Monday at 7:15.
