Boys soccer beat the Richard Montgomery Rockets 4–2 Wednesday. Forward Daniel Kjartannsson scored two goals on free kicks, and Forwards Evan Goldsholle and Johnny Schneider each added one of their own.
The Vikes, who have triumphed in this match-up for three of the past four years, attacked with efficiency but had a hard time working together to develop possession from the back.
“We were effective going forward with the ball, and were able to break their pressure with ease,” goalie Ian Atkinson said. “Unfortunately, we were sloppy in the back for most of their game, and were unable to string passes together in the back like we usually do.”
After the Kennedy game, coach Dave Greene stressed that the team needed to get players back from injury and suspension. Midfielder Chris Whittle returned from his suspension. Goldsholle came back from his groin injury and struck first for the Vikes in the second minute. Unfortunately, in the second half, midfielder Carlos Lovo went down with another injury.
The Vikes hope to continue their offensive barrage—they’ve scored more goals in the last two games than in all their other games combined.
The Vikings host the 7–0 Blair Blazers on Monday night at 7:15.
