Two gunmen open fire at an event in Texas Monday
Two gunmen opened fire outside an exhibit in Texas, which featured images of the prophet Mohammed. Both shooters were shot dead at the scene. Today, ISIS claimed responsibility for the incident and indicated that there are more attacks to come, although their link to the gunmen is unconfirmed. This act of terrorism follows the deadly attack on the French newspaper Charlie Hebdo in which twelve people were killed.

Smith College, an all-female instution, to admit transgender women
Smith College’s historic change is a reversal of its previous stance against admitting transgender women. This decision follows the lead of two other all-female institutions—Wellesley and Mount Holyoke Colleges—which already admit transgender students. Transgender rights have been popular in the news after former Olympian Bruce Jenner recently acknowledged that he is transgender in a highly publicized interview.
