The coed volleyball team swept the Paint Branch Panthers 3–0 Monday, ending the regular season with an 8–3 record.
The Vikes dominated during the first set and worked cohesively to set up on offense, which paid off as they prevailed 25–6.
The second set was a blow for the Vikes, however, as the defense was not as tight as it had been previously. They allowed the Panthers to finish with 22 points.
“We let up in the second set and let them get more points than expected,” outside hitter Maddie McGill said. “Our serve-receive was off and we couldn’t side out.”
The Vikings once again overshadowed the Panthers in the last set, coming out with the same energy they had during the first set. Thanks to exceptional net play and crucial blocks, they conquered the Panthers 25–9.
“Overall, it was a great way to end the regular season and get us ready to go far in playoffs,” McGill said.
In the playoffs, the team looks to continue their success and build on their eight regular-season wins.
