The boys tennis team eased by the Poolesville Falcons Friday afternoon, sweeping them 7–0 and improving their record to 9–1 for the year.
The Vikes cruised from the start, when number one singles player Jack Welch won 6–0, 6–0, remaining undefeated on the season. Number four singles player Jack Barrett won his match 6–1, 6–1, and number three doubles combo Guarav Iyengar and Caleb Kim won 6–1, 6–2.
No seniors played in the match, as many were preparing for prom, but they were not missed due to the Vikings’ deep roster.
“Teams like Poolesville don’t have the same level of tennis ability as the Whitman players have,” number 3 singles player Oscar Levine said.
The Falcons never showed any signs of life, as the Vikes dominated nearly every set in every match.
The Vikes will take on the Magruder Colonels at home Saturday.
