Girls lacrosse bounced back from their recent loss to take down the Walter Johnson Wildcats 9–5, improving to 7–2 on the season.
Captain Hannah Tatem had a rock-solid game in net, giving the Wildcats no chance to stay in the game. She has been pulled from the game around halftime from two of the past three games with mixed results. Keeping her in the net payed off, as she held to Wildcats to only five points.
Although the Vikes came up with the victory, they felt they played down to the weaker WJ team.
“Even though we won, we didn’t play up to our usual standards. We wanted to continue the momentum from Tuesday into today but we couldn’t do that,” midfielder Caroline Schweitzer said. “We want to come out stronger next time and play our game and not play down to our competitor.”
The Vikes travel to Clarksburg to continue their winning ways Monday.
