The 4–6 girls’ softball team dominated the B-CC Barons, winning 13–3 on Saturday to keep up their hot bats and sturdy pitching from their near-comeback against Churchill. Pitcher Lauren Furst kept steady during her outing, allowing only three runs.
Furst, who had another complete game, pitched six airtight innings until the game was ended early by the mercy rule.
“B-CC is not a very competitive team, so we definitely had an upper hand going to the game, but we still played like it was the best team in the county,” Furst said. “I felt like I had a strong game with strong defense behind me.”
The Vikings look to continue their high level of play against the Blair Blazers Monday.
“Their pitcher and catcher duo is impressive, so I just hope that the slow pitching and fielding from B-CC does not mess with our heads,” shortstop Elena Kozak said.
