After leading going into the fourth quarter, the boys basketball team fell to Quince Orchard 69-62, dropping thier record to 6-7 on the season.
“We all agreed it was our best offensive showcase,” center George Wilson said. “We really worked the ball around well and made great attempts at making the extra pass.”
After a back-and-forth opening quarter, the Vikings offense settled down and began to build a lead. They trailed 19-17 after the first quarter, but led 28-25 at halftime.
The Vikes were up five going into the fourth quarter, but struggled to get stops on defense. They eventually relinquished their lead midway through the final frame.
The Cougers hit their free throws late in the game, preventing any Viking comeback.
“We played good defense up until the second half,” Wilson said. “We came out lacking intensity. But in the end, we just weren’t hitting the open shots that we got.”
Guard Riley Shaver had a game-high 21 points, hitting five out 12 three-point shots.
In his third straight game with at least four threes, guard Hannes Koglenik had 12 points on 13 attempts.
Forward Shaq Diboti-Lobe also had 12 points, adding four assists.
The Vikings will have an opportunity to get back on track Monday when they square off with the winless Walter Johnson Wildcats (0-13).
