Coming off of a tough loss to Landon, the boys basketball team bounced back in dominating fashion, improving to 2-2 on the season after beating the Wootton Patriots 57-43.
“To us this was the start of the season,” forward Riley Shaver said. “This win is just our first step towards where we want to go and how we want to play.”
Trailing by six early in the second quarter, Shaver gave the Vikings a needed lift. He ended with 11 points, five rebounds, and five assists, including an emphatic dunk at the end of the first half.
After scoring only two points against Landon, forward Shaq Diboti-Lobe bounced back with 20 points, going 7-15 from the field.
The Vikes held a 26-21 lead at halftime, before going on an 18-4 third-quarter run to break the game open.
Center Anton Casey controlled the paint all game, with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
“We chose to forget about our past games and focus on what lies ahead,” Shaver said.
Next up for the Vikes is the 2-1 Northwest Jaguars.
