The football team will be undermanned tonight when they take on the Quince Orchard Cougars, a perennial football powerhouse.
Injury and sickness have cut down an already small roster to only 26 available players for tonight’s game, according to head coach Jim Kuhn.
“It’s always a tough order to play [QO] but especially now,” Kuhn said. “Our backs are against the wall.”
Among the players who won’t play tonight are starters Matthew McClanahan (concussion: day-to-day), Jake Kuhn (torn acl: out for the season), Jacob Pittsenberger (sickness: day-to-day) and Chris Boinis (torn acl: out for the season).
Without Pittsenberger, sophomore Gunnar Morton will get the start at running back.
“Intimidation cannot be a factor tonight,” Morton said. “I have to play big.”
According to Kuhn, the gameplan won’t change, but the Vikings will have to rely on their starters more than usual.
“We just won’t be able to sub as much,” he said.
The Vikings will face the Cougars at 6:30 tonight at QO.
