The girls basketball team won its seventeenth straight game last night, defeating the Blair Blazers, 58-21.
The team was led by freshman star Abby Meyers who hit four field goals and three free-throws for 11 points.
It received a scoring contribution from every player on the team and a seven point contribution from guard Nicole Fleck and forwards Avery Witt and Hannah Niles.
The team closed out the game perfectly scoring 20 points in the fourth quarter and allowing the Blazers to register a mere three.
This is the sixth time this season the Vikes have held their opponents to under 30 points.
“We played really solid defense and just shut them down in the second half,” Witt said.
The team held the Blazers to just six points in the second half. The team has been characterized by these strong defensive performances all season long.
The team is looking incredibly strong heading into the playoffs with only two games remaining in the regular season against 16-2 Kennedy and 2-14 Northwood.
“We are undefeated in the division and we just have a lot of momentum and confidence,” Witt said.
They will face Kennedy at home this Friday and look to win their eighteenth straight.
