The Lady Vikes defeated the 10-2 Paint Branch Panthers in a thrilling 44-43 win to extend their winning streak to 10 games and counting.
The team was lead in scoring by captain forward Avery Witt who registered 13 points, including three three-pointers.
The Vikes did a great job in drawing fouls and converting, scoring 15 points in free throws, eight of which by forward Marie Hatch.
Center Ally Markel credits the win to dedication and communication.
“The team was intense the whole game,” Markel said. “We really pushed through and kept up the communication from the first minute until the end.”
The girls were able to hold the Panthers’ leading scorer, guard Daisa Harris, to only 10 points, seven points below her season average.
“Our defense broke down towards halftime, but we picked it back up when we walked back on the court in the second half,” Markel said.
The Vikes will face the 1-11 Quince Orchard Cougars next Tuesday looking for their 11th straight win heading out of the halfway point of the season.
