The girls basketball team defeated the Wootton Patriots, 57-45, to secure its second win of the season, making its current record 2-2.
The Vikes came out scoring 17 points in the first quarter, however gave up the lead to Wootton at the half.
Led by forward Marie Hatch, with 12 points, the Vikes were able to overcome the Patriots in the third quarter and then later dominate them, putting up 20 points in the fourth quarter.
Guard Marissa Cannon credits the defense for pulling off a solid win against the Vikes’ rivals.
“Our defense was unbelievable and we managed to pull through with a lead and win the game,” Cannon said.
The team also had contributions from guard Nicole Fleck with 10 points and Maddie Cannon with eight.
Marissa Cannon believes that the team is close to reaching its full potential early in the season.
“We definitely need to improve on communication,” Marissa Cannon said. “Once we conquer that we will be unstoppable.”
The Vikes will travel to Northwest this Wednesday to face the Jaguars.
