The wrestling team defeated the Wootton Patriots 46-24 on Saturday in its first dual of the season.
The team looked stronger than it had in the past years with five first period pins by 220 pound Max Sessions, 160 pound Jack Calder, 106 pound Harriet Symington, 126 pound Will Baker and 180 pound Matthew McClanahan.
The Vikes will look to build off of a strong win against the rival Patriots, whom they have defeated in the past two years.
“During the off-season, our main focus was Wootton,” McClanahan said. “Now that we have hopped that hurdle, we know we can accomplish big things.”
The team will face the Paint Branch Panthers, whom they fell to last year late in the season, this Tuesday at home for its second dual of the season.
