The boys soccer team fell to number one team in the nation, the St. Benedicts Grey Bees, 11-0, making its final record of the season 5-5-1.
The boys looked strong in the first half by giving up just four goals to a superb Grey Bees offense. The second half, however, was a different story and the Vikes gave up seven more goals.
St. Benedicts, located in New Jersey, recruits players from all over the country to play for the eight-time national championship team.
The Vikes have played St. Benedicts several years in a row now, losing in the last three meetings.
The team did all it could to hold off the Grey Bees, but the match-up was very lopsided.
The Vikes will head into the playoffs after a tough loss, however they will do as much as possible to put the loss behind them according to mid-fielder George Xourias.
“After every game the captains are there for us, telling us that we are good enough to win states, and making us want to work for that next game,” Xourias said.
The boys will find out who they will face in the first round of the playoffs and their seeding on Monday.
