The boys soccer team improved their record to 5-4-1 with a tough 1-0 win over the 6-5-1 WJ Wildcats on their senior night.
The game was back-and-forth until forward Andreas Djuruus scored with 10 seconds remaining in the first half. From then on, the Vikes used their strong defensive and mid-field play to put the game away.
With new help from previously injured mid-fielder Lucas Knight, the team looked much stronger than they did in their previous game against Kennedy.
Forward Emmanuel Kanneh had another strong game with a few shots on goal, however the Vikes still need to find a way to produce on offense, especially when they face the 8-time national champion the St. Benedicts Gray Bees.
Right now, St. Benedicts is currently ranked number one in their respective national region.
“We come in with confidence, which will be huge tomorrow,” defenseman Ryan Rush said. “If we play for each other then I think something very special will happen tomorrow night.”
Two seasons ago the Vikes lost 8-1 to St. Benedicts, however, last season they lost only 4-1, and this year they are going for the win, Defenseman Jorge Richardson said.
