The boys soccer team defeated its rivals, the 7-2-1 Churchill Bulldogs, 2-1, improving its record to 5-2-1.
Despite heavy rain, the Vikes were able to pull of their second upset in a row, previously beating the undefeated Gaithersburg Trojans last Friday.
The team played another incredibly close match, allowing only one goal to a strong Churchill offense.
Midfielders George Xourias and Andreas Djuruus both registered their first goals of the season.
Tough defense has been an advantage for the Vikes throughout the entire season, however today they worked as a full cohesive team.
“We played for each other,” defender Ryan Rush said. “Each player worked until they had nothing left in them. Everything was positive, from the field to the bench, it was a team victory.”
The team will need to continue to work on its offense as they have not recorded more than two goals against a team with a positive record.
The boys will face the 2-5 BCC Barons at home this Wednesday in another rivalry matchup.
