The boys soccer team defeated the Einstein Athletics, 4-0 in a much needed win advancing their record to 2-1-2.
The Vikes completely dominated the pace of the game and took an early lead on a cross by left-winger Jeff Rosenberg to mid-fielder Vegas Kastberg for a goal.
“It was great boost for our guys,” Kastberg said. “We desperately needed the win at home going into our next game against Gaithersburg who are 5-0.”
Kastberg later registered a second goal, making that three on the season, and was accompanied by goals by forwards Davey Mason and Emmanuel Kanneh.
The team was able to create much needed offense even without several starters.
“Kids stepped up today during a tough period will all our injuries,” Kastberg said.
Keeper Ian Atkinson showed yet another strong performance in goal, shutting out the Athletics.
The Vikes will face the 5-0 Gaithersburg Trojans next Tuesday at home. According to Kastberg, a win against a strong opponent such as the Trojans would be just what the team needs to get back on track.
