The boys soccer team followed up its first win on the season with a 2-2, double overtime draw against Northwest making its record 1-1-1.
The game went back and forth with the Vikes initially taking the lead. In the end, however, the Vikes gave up a late goal that sent the game into overtime. The Vikes were unable to score in both overtime periods ending the game in a draw.
Despite controversial refereeing, resulting in a penalty shot for the Jaguars, strong defense and great goaltending by sophomore Ian Atkinson kept the Vikes in the game.
Sophomore Davey Mason registered two goals in the game and was the biggest playmaker for the team. He was disappointed that his team could not pull off the well-deserved win.
“We were not organized,” Mason said. “We need to stay calm and play our game.”
The Vikes will travel to Watkins Mill this Wednesday in hopes of recording their second win of the season.
