The boys soccer team followed up their season opening loss with a 2-0 win over the Quince Orchard Cougars improving their record to 1-1.
The Vikes prevented the Cougars from creating offensive chances throughout the game, with strong defense from senior Lucas Knight and goal tending by sophomore Ian Atkinson.
Despite losing left-wing junior Jeff Rosenberg the previous game to a sprained ankle, the Vikes were able to produce even more offense than in their season opening game with goals from sophomore forward Davy Mason and senior forward Emmanuel Kanneh.
“When we function as a unit like we did tonight, I think that we’ll find it easier to get ahead in big games,” Rosenberg said.
Senior center-midfielder Vegas Kastberg also continued his tough play in the middle of the field, controlling the pace of the game.
The Vikes will travel to Northwest next Monday to take on the 1-0 Jaguars.
