The baseball team defeated the Northwest Jaguars 2-1 on Senior Night April 30, improving its record to 13-2.
The Vikes avenged their loss to Northwest in the regional finals last season by winning a very close divisional game.

Pitcher Gabe Steinberg led the Vikes defensively, limiting the high-powered Northwest offense to just one run.

The Vikes were able to capitalize late in the game when centerfielder Drew Aherne hit a huge home run to put the Vikes ahead.

Offensively, the team was lead by Aherne, who contributed two hits and an RBI to go along with his home run. Max Steinhorn and Ben Castagnetti each added one hit of their own.

“This was a big game for us,” third basemen Andrew Castagnetti said. “We wanted our seniors to go out on a high note.”

The team looks to win its next three games before the playoffs. The boys take on the Clarksburg Coyotes May 2.
