The baseball team defeated the Walter Johnson Wildcats 18-3 April 22, improving its record to 10-2.
The Vikes started slowly, as the score was tied 1-1 after two innings and 3-3 after four.
The team had an offensive explosion in the fifth and sixth inning, scoring five and ten runs respectively. Center fielder Drew Aherne had three hits and two RBI’s, while shortstop Max Steinhorn had two hits and two RBI’s. Third basemen Andrew Castagnetti contributed three RBI’s and rightfielder Michael Yang chipped in two more, leading the Vikes to victory.
Pitchers Alex Cladouhos and Gabe Steinberg held down the fort defensively, holding the Wildcats to just three runs the entire game and zero runs after the fourth inning. Steinhorn and Cal Brooks each pitched one inning at the end of the game.
“We started off slow but didn’t get disheartened at all,” Cladouhos said. “I have total faith in our offense and as a pitcher that is a good feeling.”
The team looks to improve its record to 11-2 when it takes on the Blair Blazers April 24.
