The 6-3-2 ice hockey team lost to the Churchill Bulldogs Jan. 18 by a final score of 5-1.
The Vikes played the Bulldogs for the second time this season, having played them in the Nov. 30 game sponsored by the Washington Capitals.
The Vikings started out well with a quick goal from Jeff Marr, assisted by forward Stephen Nowack, just a few minutes into the period. A few minutes later, Churchill’s Jacob Arden scored a goal to tie the game up.
The second period started slowly and remained that way until just after the eight minute mark when Churchill’s Connor Martin scored to give the Bulldogs the 2-1 lead. Just 31 seconds into the third period, Churchill’s Noah Fleishman tallied a goal to give Churchill the 3-1 advantage. Martin then netted his second goal of the night to stretch the lead to 3 goals with 3:26 left in the period.
In the final two minutes of the game, Churchill’s Philip Satin scored a goal on a power play to solidify the victory. The final buzzer sounded, marking the Vikings’ third loss of the season.
The Vikes look to bounce back from the loss when they take on the Walter Johnson Wildcats Jan. 25 at Rockville Ice Arena at 8:10 p.m.
