The field hockey team fell to the 6-0 Sherwood Warriors 3-1 Sept. 14, lowering its record to 1-2.
Both teams were strong in the first half, maintaing a high level of intensity. The Warriors scored the first goal, but midfielder Sydney Markus broke their defense and evened the score before halftime.
In the second half, the Warriors dominated possession on offense, scoring two successive goals with about 20 minutes to go.
The Vikes brought their energy back in the final minutes of the game, taking several shots on goal. Midfielder Olivia LeBeau continuously passed the ball to the forwards, but the Vikes couldn’t recover from the two goal deficit.
“Our team is really good together,” forward Chelsea Markus said. “We tried our best and we never let down even until the last minute.”
The Vikes look to improve their record Sept. 19 at home against the 1-2 Richard Montgomery Rockets.
