The boys lacrosse team beat the 2-1 Bethesda-Chevy Chase Barons, 7-4, April 11, improving its record to 3-1.
Although the Barons started out strong scoring the game’s first goal, the Vikes quickly capitalized on their mistakes and assumed control of the game. Notching four goals, attack Ryan Craig rapidly gave the Vikes the lead, with fellow attack Christian Sanson tallying another soon after.
Attempting a comeback, Baron attack Jake Shapiro scored two goals, narrowing the Vikes’ lead to two. However, the Vikes remained determined and upped the intensity resulting in Craig and midfielder Grant Miller scored again. Putting up a fight at the end of the fourth quarter, the Barons scored again on a fluky bounce.
“This was the first game where we played well in all aspects of the game,” Craig said. “Both our offense and our defense played well and it gives us hope for the rest of the season.”
The team looks to continue its win streak when it takes on the Churchill Bulldogs April 13.
