The girls basketball team fell to the undefeated Gaithersburg Trojans, 69-39, Feb. 10, moving its record to 11-8.
The Vikes had no response for the Trojans’ first quarter offensive attack. The Trojans pushed a fast tempo, jumping out to a 21-8 lead going into the second quarter.
Again in the second the Vikes were held to only eight points, but a change in their half court defense limited the Trojans to just 12 points, with the score 33-20 at the half.
The third was even closer, as the Vikes matched almost every one of the Trojans points. The Trojans just barely outscored the Vikes, 11-10.
The fourth, however, seemed much like the first, with the Trojan offense taking over again. The Vikes 13 points in the fourth were not enough to match the Trojans 25.
Point guard Rachel Sisco led the Viking scorers with 16 points, including one three pointer and hitting five of five shots from the free throw line.
The team hosts the 15-4 Blair Blazers for its final home game of the season, Feb. 14.
