As a parent of a gay graduate of Whitman, I must say that I am glad that the LGBT community at Whitman is becoming more visible. I am so proud of all of you who have come out and created an environment in which others feel they can do the same. I am also equally proud of those of you who are straight and have stood by and supported your classmates. We are here to support you all!

I’m so glad that the gay community is becoming more visible at Whitman. I think this makes it much easier for gay youth to come out and feel supported. I’m very proud of the students who have come out and those who are standing in support of their classmates. To be the best you can be is to be who you are! We are supporting you!

I am so happy that our community and school has worked to become a place where students can be comfortable and acceptable for who they really are. Wonderful.
