Thousands descended onto the National Mall Sept. 24 and 25 for the 11th annual National Book Festival. The free event, organized and sponsored by the Library of Congress, encourages children and adults to read and explore different genres of books.
The National Book Festival featured more than 100 authors, illustrators and poets, including David McCullough, Sarah Dessen, Russell Banks, Pulitzer Prize-winners Siddhartha Mukherjee and Jennifer Egan, Garrison Keillor, Amy Chua and Toni Morrison. Different pavilions hosted different events, such as the Library of Congress Pavilion, where you could learn how to preserve your family history. In addition, there was also Let’s Read America Pavilion and a Book Sales Pavilion sponsored by Barnes & Noble.
