The softball team was mercy-ruled by the Blair Blazers, 13-3 on May 3, dropping its record to 6-7-1.
The Vikes were expecting a tough game due to the fact that the Blazers are one of the best teams in the county. Catcher Sydney Gertzog believed that despite the team’s poor performance, all players came in with a positive mindset.
“Even after our losses over the weekend, we came into this game with a positive attitude and were ready to give 110%,” Gertzog said.
Helen Rosenthal led the way on offense, hitting a home run to put the Vikings on the board.
The Vikings made adjustments in the field, with usual centerfielder Rachel Sisco at the shortstop positing, while Sam Gonzales played centerfield. Katie Wollmer returned with a solid game after a six week absence due to illness.
The team hopes to get back on track when it faces the Damascus Hornets on May 5.
