The softball team mercy-ruled cross-town rival BCC 11-0 on April 11 to improve their record to 5-2-1.
The mercy rule comes into effect when one team is ahead of the other team by 10 or more runs going into the fifth inning. At this point, the game is called off and the team ahead is granted the victory.
Defensively, the Vikings were able to shut out BCC thanks to exceptional pitching from junior Ali Rohde. The team as a whole also batted well with big hits by Sydney Gertzog, Rachel Sisco, Rohde and captain Sarah Macy.
The team looks to gain momentum going into tough games against Richard Montgomery, Blair, Damascus and Sherwood.
“This game definitely boosts our confidence going forward in the season,” Macy said. “But we have to keep in mind that our hardest games are yet to come.”
