Police charged Brittany Norwood, 28, who claimed to be victimized at Lululemon Athletica, with the murder of her fellow employee. Last Saturday, another employee found Norwood bound near the deceased victim, Jayna Murray.
Over the week, detectives found the victim’s car, three blocks away from the store, with physical and forensic evidence suggesting Norwood’s story, that two males assaulted one woman and murdered the other, wasn’t true.
“All we had was, what we believed to be, a victim’s story,” Montgomery County police chief J. Thomas Manger said. “You have to take a victim’s story as truth.”
Detectives only found two foot-prints in the store: one was from a size 14 shoe sold at Lululemon, the other was Norwood’s.
Police said there was no evidence to prove either victim was sexually assaulted.
Originally, police began to gather information about a male who matched the details Norwood had given, but further evidence, including an Apple employee who heard two women bickering in the store last Friday night, eliminated him as a suspect.
Norwood will appear in court on Monday.
