Because Whitman won second place in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s High School Challenge, HOT 99.5 radio host Kruz and two representatives from LLS greeted students as they walked into school this morning.

The representatives handed out HOT 99.5 stickers and fans while greeting students, congratulating them on the success of February’s fundraising events. Whitman raised over $22,000 for the society, coming in second to Walter Johnson, who raised about $37,000.

“It really isn’t about the contest,” LLS representative Emily Hansen said. “So much money was raised, and that’s what’s important.”
