Eight student bands performed at the first Battle of the Bands competition last night, where the SGA raised just under $2,400 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Four-person, sophomore band Borealis won the event, while senior bands White Bread with a Dash of Curry and Seltaeb Eht placed second and third.
After each band played two songs, the audience could vote for their favorite by donating a dollar or more to a band.
“People have an incentive to come to Battle of the Bands because there is a large variety of bands, unlike Coffee House where there’s only a few,” said Carson Lystad, lead guitarist for the band ‘Emma and Carson.’ “It’s also a really good way for bands to experiment with new songs and see what their peers think.”
