Field hockey falls to Wootton 1–0

By Andrew Eagle

The field hockey team (2–1) was defeated by the Wootton Patriots (3–0) 1–0 Monday despite a strong defensive showing.

Forwards Mary Hermes and Lou Cartillier scored goals in the first half, but the goals were not counted due to penalties in the box.

The game was knotted at zero at halftime, but the Patriots quickly scored in the beginning of the second half to make the score 1–0.

The Patriots held the Vikes scoreless for the rest of the game, handing the team their first loss of the season.

The Vikes next play the Churchill Bulldogs (4–0) Thursday at 7 pm at home.
