The football team (0–1) lost to the Northwest Jaguars (1–0) 40–13 Friday night.

Northwest jumped out to an early lead, scoring thirteen points in the first quarter. The Vikes struggled to create any offense in the first half, trailing 20–0 going into halftime.

In the third quarter, running back Adam Nganwa scampered for a 13-yard touchdown, cutting the lead to 20–7. Nganwa finished with 15 carries for 32 yards.

After another Northwest touchdown, wide receiver Lucas Hilsenrath dodged defenders and outran the Jaguars’ special teams on his way to scoring a 97-yard return touchdown with the team still trailing 27–13.

Despite the Vikes 13-point third quarter, the team did not score in the fourth quarter and the Jaguars scored 13 points to close out the game with a final score of 40–13.

“By the end of the game, we earned their respect,” Hilsenrath said. “We really came together as a team and played much better this week.”

The Vikes next play the Wootton Patriots (0–1) Friday at 6:30 pm at home.
