December 15: Boys basketball stifle Magruder 56–40; girls basketball blows out Magruder 86–13; hockey shuts out B-CC 5–0

Boys basketball

The boys basketball team (3–1) crushed the Magruder Colonels 56–40 on Wednesday night, rebounding from their first defeat of the season against Georgetown Prep.

The Vikes held their opponents to a season-low point total, while putting up their second highest scoring output this season.

Forward Max Oppenheim recorded his second double-double on the season, while posting a team-high 16 points.

The Vikes play at home on Friday night against Northwood.

Girls basketball

The girls basketball team (3–0) dominated the Magruder Colonels 86–13, outscoring the Colonels 46–3 in the second half.

The Vikes jumped out to a quick 40–10 lead at the half. The squad continued their dominance in the second half, scoring fifteen times more points than the Colonels behind the play of guard Abby Meyers, forward Olivia Meyers and guard Elyse Lowet.

The team’s next game is away against Northwood on Friday.

Hockey

The Vikings (5–1–1) outplayed the B-CC Barons barons (3–0–3) with a 5–0 shutout.

The team was led by goalie Brendan Daly who had 20 saves throughout the match up, securing a shutout for the squad.

Viking goals were scored by Tiger Bjornland, Mark Meinecke, Martin Torrey and two by Tyler Crist.

Next, the Vikings play the Montgomery Blair Blazers Friday.
