The annual Festival of the Arts featured performances by the band and chorus and displayed student and teacher artwork May 26-27.
Art ranging from paintings to photography hung in the gyms and wrestling room Wednesday night and all-day Thursday, allowing teachers bring their students to the show during class. Others were able to see the festival after school when it opened to the public from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The band and chorus performed Wednesday and Thursday evening in the cafeteria.
“I think it’s really important that students get a chance to see what other students spend so many hours and weeks on during the year,” sophomore Paula Alvarez-Couceiro says. “Art is an important part of life that a lot of people don’t get exposed to.”

My comment apparently has been deleted for the second time.
I do not wish to go to any higher administration, but I will not tolerate my censorship when I am offering advice to create better journalists.
For the third time:
1. “sophomore Paula Alvarez-Couceiro says”
says should be said
2. “The band and chorus performed Wednesday and Thursday evening in the cafeteria.”
It should be either
a. Wednesday and Thursday evenings
or
b. Wednesday evening and Thursday evening
This is to decrease confusion.

I appreciate the positive commentary (although the Black and White may not share my views).

Leonard, I too am having trouble getting my comments through.
Let me reiterate:
1. “sophomore Paula Alvarez-Couceiro says.”
The “says” should be “said”. Unless Paula says that quote often, the tense should be past.
2. “The band and chorus performed Wednesday and Thursday evening in the cafeteria.”
It should be either
a. Wednesday evening and Thursday evening
or
b. Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
This leads to less confusion.

Referring to the previous comment, ‘afterschool’ is only used as one word when it is an adjective (afterschool activity, for example). It’s similar to how everyday is an adjective but you would say “I go to school every day.”

My earlier comment was not approved. I’m not sure why, but the mistakes I pointed out still exist. If I was mistaken in pointing them out, I would appreciate it if someone would tell me that. It would be unfortunate if this establishment neglected to take the concerns of others into account. Therefore, I’m going to post again, with the hope that someone decides to rectify the errors.
1. “Art ranging from paintings and photography hung in the gyms and wrestling room Wednesday night and all-day Thursday, allowing teachers bring their students to the show during class.”
– Art ranging from what to what?
2. ‘Afterschool’ is traditionally used as one word.
