The baseball team (9–1) extended their winning streak to five games after surviving a 10–8 thriller against the Richard Montgomery Rockets.
The game was shaping up to be a low scoring affair after the first three innings saw no runs, but the Rockets put up four runs in the fourth inning and the Vikes retaliated with four of their own in the following two innings.
The game came down to the seventh inning when the Vikings put up six runs before retiring to the field.
Pitcher Nathan Haddon was able to pull off the save, but due to a slew of errors, the Rockets scored four runs, nearly erasing the team’s six-run lead.
“Haddon kept his focus on the mound despite a few defensive miscues and came up big for us,” pitcher Sean Cook said.
While the Vikes pulled off the win, the team recognized that there was certainly room for improvement.
“We came out very flat,” Cook said. “So we’ll be looking to keep up to the intensity throughout the next game.”
The team’s next game is home against Sherwood Warriors Thursday at 7.
