After the school shooting threat Oct. 14, two 15-year-old students from Whitman have been charged with threats of mass violence, threats of bodily harm and disturbing classes and activities, according to the Bethesda Beat.
The accused students allegedly tweeted that they would shoot the first people to come into Whitman, principal Alan Goodwin said. In response, a large number of police officers had to come to the school that day, although they left after assuring that the school was safe.
Threats of mass violence are Category V misdemeanors. The students have been charged with the offenses and will be tried as juveniles.
“They were found by the police investigation. I don’t know how they did it, I’m just glad they did,” Goodwin said. “It’s really important to be vigilant and watchful because we’re never sure when something dramatic might pop up.”
