The girls lacrosse team took down the Churchill Bulldogs to win their section of the playoff bracket 9–7 in a game that went down to the wire.
Midfielders Maddie Parker and Eden Gray led the offense, combining for four goals and three assists. Goalie Hannah Tatem held down the defensive end of the field with ten saves.
Parker and Gray kept up the tempo for the Vikes throughout the match. Despite the success, they hope to dominate more moving forward.
“We are going to slow it down on attack and crash harder next game,” Parker said. “Today we did a really good job working hard the whole game and staying positive.”
Tatem’s fantastic play was crucial: she made multiple saves in the last few minutes of the game, thwarting a Bulldog comeback.
The Vikings look to continue their playoff run in the regional semifinals against the Wooton Patriots Wednesday. Whitman took down the Patriots 9–6 during the regular season.
