The softball team hit a rocky start to the season after a loss to the Quince Orchard Cougars, 14-4, on Saturday Mar. 22.
Right from the start, the Cougars asserted their dominance on the field by scoring seven runs in the first two innings. Despite the deficit, the Vikings managed to pull off a third inning rally, scoring three runs, with junior Elena Kozak hitting a triple.
The Cougars’ combination of strong pitching and infield play allowed them to hold the Vikes to four runs despite a good effort from the team.
“It’s disappointing to lose like we did in our first game, but we knew going in that this was going to be a tough game,” catcher Olivia Weals said.
The Vikings look to rebound from the loss against the Blake Bengals on Monday Mar. 23.
