I was honored to perform with a group of students in the fall musical Miss Saigon on Wednesday at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for an audience of veterans.
The show is set during the fall of Saigon at the end of the Vietnam War, so it seemed appropriate to perform selections to current veterans, some of whom may have family who served in Vietnam.
The mini concert, consisting of six songs, was held in the facility’s Warrior Café while the veterans were eating lunch.
The first song, called “Bui Doi,” tells the story of the half-Vietnamese, half-American children that were left behind in Vietnam after the war.
The group closed with a rendition of the National Anthem, which the Walter Reed coordinator said was the best rendition of the Anthem they had ever had at the facility.
