After a first round bye, the baseball team lost in the second round of the playoffs yesterday, falling 10-8 to Churchill. The Vikes ended the season 14-4.
Although the boys went up 8-0 at the end of the second inning, a combination of strong fielding and pitching by Churchill kept the Vikings from scoring for the rest of the game. Churchill was also able to put up 10 runs, including 8 runs in the sixth inning to complete their comeback.
The Vikes started the game strong offensively, as the team got several consecutive triples and a homerun by senior Patrick Hisle. Second baseman Ben Castagnetti also contributed multiple hits and 2 RBIs.
Current juniors including Castagnetti, infielder/pitcher Max Steinhorn and outfielder Drew Aherne look to carry on this season’s success next spring.
