Science resource teacher Don DeMember’s son Matt was playing in a Christian league basketball game when he received a pass from a teammate as the final seconds of the game were ticking away.
He turned around and shot a backwards, underhand 3-pointer right before the buzzer, then watched as the ball swished in, nothing but net.
A parent caught all of this on camera and posted it on YouTube, where it has gained almost 4 million views. DeMember, his son and their friends emailed the video to ESPN. The next day, the video was ranked number one on SportsCenter’s top plays.
“We got some text messages from friends on Twitter that ESPN just tweeted the video and that it had a good chance of being on the top ten plays,” DeMember said.
