The golf team defeated the B-CC Barons and the Walter Johnson Wildcats but finished behind the Quince Orchard Cougars in a match at Worthington Manor Sept 4.
The team came out strong after placing in first in an Aug. 29 against B-CC, the Damascus Hornets and the Churchill Bulldogs. Danny Mills and senior Captain Sam Pastoriza both shot a 39, while Joe Davis shot a 42, Nick West shot a 41, Stephen Sharbaugh shot a 42 and Andrew Barth shot a 43.
The team finished with a total of 204 strokes while first place Quince Orchard finished with 196. Walter Johnson and B-CC tied for last with a score of 214. Despite missing first place, the team’s strong skills helped it prevail over the strong Walter Johnson and B-CC clubs. The players were happy with the half-victory, Pastoriza said.
“The team continued their momentum after their win last match and played well today,” he said.
The players look forward to next week’s match when they take on the Wootton Patriots, Damascus, and Walter Johnson on Monday Sep. 10 at . The boys hope to improve their overall 5-1 record against the three challenging opponent squads.
