The baseball team defeated the 10-5 Northwest Jaguars 2-1 in extra innings May 5, improving its record to 14-2.
The Vikes prevailed in a close game due to outstanding pitching from Gabe Steinberg. Centerfielder Drew Aherne and rightfielder Mike Yang made several key catches, helping the team seal its fourteenth win of the season.
Offensively, the team was led by Aherne, who drove in shortstop Patrick Hisle on an RBI fielder’s choice. Designated hitter Max Sessions had an RBI double in the ninth inning to score the winning run.
“We faced a very good team today,” Steinberg said after the game. “We proved that we can beat anyone in the county.”
The team hopes to get one step closer to the best record in school history when it faces the Clarksburg Coyotes on community night May 7.
