The baseball team defeated the Wootton Patriots May 1 by a score of 5-1, improving its record to 12-2.
Captain Michael Flack pitched all seven innings in a dominant performance and, with great support from infield play, held the powerhouse Patriots offense to just one run.
The team jumped ahead early thanks to a single from Andrew Castagnetti with the bases loaded. Flack then drove a hit to deep center field, bringing in Evan Reeves from second base. Defensively, Castagnetti led the team with a stellar performance at third base.
When the Patriots began to chip away at the Vikings lead, catcher Josh Biel hit an RBI single to seal the game.
“It was great to get the win,” Flack said. “It’s always nice to beat Wootton.”
The team will take on the Paint Branch Panthers May 3 at Blake high school, since the Paint Branch field is under construction. The Vikes will look to advance their record to 13-2.
