The softball team improved its record to 2-4 on the season April 16, beating the Churchill Bulldogs 8-5.
The team kept up with the Bulldogs the entire game and took an 8-4 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh inning. The Vikings only surrendered one run in the final inning thanks to outstanding pitching from Helen Rosenthal and great defensive play from catcher Sydney Gertzog and first basemen Cheyenne Bartolomei.
Rosenthal and captain Abby Fisher each hit a triple and propelled the Vikings offense. The team improved its hitting, consistently hitting singles into the Bulldogs’ outfield.
“This was a really important game for us,” coach Anne Marie O’Donoghue said. “We were very pleased with how it turned out.”
The team takes on the BCC Barons April 18.
