The girls lacrosse team fell to the Sherwood Warriors, 16-3, March 24, dropping its record to 1-1.
The Vikes hoped to avenge its second round playoff loss to Sherwood from last season, but the Warriors proved too much to handle.
Goalie Lilly Blum kept the Vikes in the game with some good saves early on, but the overwhelming attack of the Warriors offense made it difficult.
Sherwood’s defense smothered the Vikes for the entire game, making it hard for the Vikes to control the ball. Once the team had the ball and settled down, however, its offense was able to put points on the board thanks to goals from attack Claire Block, midfielder Marissa Hosker and attack Clara Schneider.
The team showed its potential earlier in the week when it beat the Magruder Colonels 18-4, and midfielder Lara White feels that the team can still succeed despite this loss.
“We really played our game against Magruder,” White said. “I know we are capable of more and we just didn’t show it on Saturday.”
The team takes on the Clarksburg Coyotes March 29 at home.
