Computer lab A234 opened Sept. 7 and A236 opened Sept. 9 for the first time since the beginning of the school year. The delay was because of an inability to set up all 120 new computers in time for the first day of school.
Systems technicians Greg Thomas and Sharon Vaughn didn’t receive the usual extra help from MCPS to set up the new computers, so they were initially unsure when they labs would be ready. But, after help from several other staff members, the two labs opened last week.
The media center will still open Sept. 19 after recarpeting. The closure of the labs and media center caused problems for students and teachers who lacked sufficient computers for their classes, especially for students with accommodations for a computer.
